Is your big heart for deep listening seeking more ways of reaching our community? Do you see yourself applying your creativity, skills and energy to Listening Post Barrie’s Steering Committee? Do you see yourself as part of the management team that makes Listening Post Barrie possible?

We invite you to send an ‘Expression of Interest’ to listeningpostbarrie@gmail.com and start the conversation.

The Steering Committee has taken the decision to increase our membership to 6 to 8 people, and to base individual membership on a one-year renewable term. Our intention is to encourage review and reflection by active members, and avoid burnout and fatigue, while creating opportunities for new members and service rotations. We also recognize that as Listening Post Barrie continues to expand beyond the initial pilot project and its seed funding, we would like to ensure that our processes and protocols will support ongoing success, and that our Steering Committee is attuned with our volunteers, community partners, supporters, and with the people that we listen to.

We meet monthly online at least 9 times per year, typically for 1.5 hours. An engaged member could expect to spend an additional 3-8 hours/month on steering committee work.

Steering committee roles and responsibilities generally include the following areas:

  • financial sustainability, resource development, and donor relations
  • organizational sustainability, succession planning and partnership development
  • volunteer support and development
  • outreach, communication and community engagement

If you would like to join us on the Listening Post Barrie Steering Committee, please send an email expressing your interest to listeningpostbarrie@gmail.com and tell us about the gifts you want to share and the areas of responsibility that draw you in.
