Doug Shipley resigned as Ward Three Councillor after being elected Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte MP in the Oct. 21, 2019 federal election * a motion to hold a by-election to fill the Ward Three Councillor vacancy was approved by Barrie City Council  
Key dates for the Ward Three City of Barrie by-election include: 
* Nomination Period: Nov 26, 2019 to Jan 10, 2020 at 2 pm 
* Nomination Day: Jan 10, 2020 at 2 pm 
* By-election Day: Mon Feb 24, 2020 
Voting in the by-election is online and by telephone for all residents in Ward 3 from Feb. 13 to 24 and there will be a voting assistance centre at East Bayfield Community Centre, located at 80 Livingstone St. E, on Feb. 18, 20, 22 and 24. It is anticipated that the winner will be sworn in at the March 2 council meeting. 
Those interested in filing a nomination for the office of Councillor, Ward Three, must complete and file in the office of the Clerk (1st floor City Hall, 70 Collier Street): 
* declaration of qualification 
* endorsement of at least 25 eligible electors in the City of Barrie 
* FOI Release Form in order for contact information to be posted on the City’s website 
* nomination filing fee of $100 (payable by cash, debit card, certified cheque or money order) 
* nomination form
