Description (Service) Foundation that works with school boards across Canada to provide student and teacher exchanges * program first established by the Ministry of Education in Ontario and was then divested to two foundations, one for students and one for teachers * two foundations were amalgamated in 1997 to form the Canadian Education Exchange Foundation 
Student exchanges are reciprocal, with Canadian high school students hosting partners from France, Germany, Italy and Spain and then going to their partners homes and attending their schools for an equal three-month period 
Teacher exchange program is reciprocal whereby a teacher remains employed and paid by their Canadian board but trades jobs and homes with a foreign teacher for a year * CEEF facilitates these exchanges as mandated by the Ministries/Departments of Education for six Canadian provinces

Youth 14-17yrs during school year in which exchange takes place, attending school full time, average academic standing and up * for the three month program students require the approval of their school principal * Grade 8 students eligible for France exchange only 
Teachers wishing to go on exchange must have a permanent contract and five years experience, good references and support from the school and district
Application Students 
*apply in the fall and winter preceding the year in which they wish to exchange 
* candidates must successfully complete a preliminary and full application, both signed by the Principal of their school 
* Family interviews are conducted 
* Police checks that include the vulnerable sector search are required for parents and anyone in the home over the age of 18

Fees Program - dependent upon current air fares and includes international flights, out of country connecting travel, out of country medical and trip cancellation insurance and an administration fee ; Teacher fees are split between an application fee and if matched, a final fee
