Volunteers can help complete the income tax and benefit return if income is low and tax situation is simple. Does not complete income tax and benefit returns for: deceased persons * bankrupt individuals * individuals who have capital gains or losses, employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses Can complete prior years and current year returns Sponsored by the Salvation Army and The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario |

| Eligibility | Suggested maximum income levels Single individual – up to $35,000 Two-person family – up to $45,000 (combined income of a couple, or one adult with one child under 18) + add $2,500 for each additional dependent child in the family Volunteers do not prepare tax returns for complex situations such as: * returns for deceased persons; * individuals who file for bankruptcy; * self-employed individuals; * individuals who report capital gains or losses; or * individuals who report employment expenses, or business or rental income and expenses. Eligible taxpayers normally served by the CVITP include * Aboriginal peoples; * Low-income individuals and social assistance recipients; * Newcomers to Canada; * Seniors; and * Students |
