Description
Description (Service) Operates a self government and is responsible for the day to day operations of the First Nation 
  • Located on an island, the community's only access to mainland and nearest urban centre of Parry Sound is via the Wasauksing Swing Bridge and Rose Point Rd 
  • Serviced by air through the Parry Sound Airport, approx 9 km E of community on the mainland 
  • Operates a local community radio station Rez 91.3 
  • Offers several small businesses including Islands Gas and Variety and Sugar Bush maple syrup sales 
  • Owns and operates Wasauksing Marina and Campground at W end of island 
  • Offers the Wasauksing First Nation United Church 
  • Hosts an annual Traditional Pow Wow in August at the Wasauksing Traditional Grounds in Depot Harbour

  • Consists of 1 main reserve known as Parry Island First Nation with a land area of approx 74.86 sq km 
  • The reserve occupies all of Parry Island with approx 126 km of lakeshore and is the biggest island in the Great Lakes 
  • Wasauksing is an Ojibway, Odawa and Pottawatomi First Nation band government
