Description (Service) | Ontario Works, often called OW, is a program for people in Ontario who are in temporary financial need. OW can provide money and/or help find a job. Financial need is determined by an Assessment of Eligibility by Ontario Works including review of income, liquid assets and living expenses. Support varies depending upon housing costs and family size. Assistance may also be provided for: * drug and dental coverage * eyeglasses * hearing aids * employment start-up benefits * job search help including resumes and interview skills * independent job searches * training or skills development * * Temporary Care Program - there is financial assistance available for children under the care of a guardian |

Eligibility | Ages: 16 year(s) - 65 year(s) Eligibility requirements: * Must live in Ontario * Youth and adults 18 years and over in financial need; employable youth 16-17 years in financial need who cannot live at home but are attending school or seeking employment (funds must be managed by a trustee, guardian or agency) * Need money right away to help pay for food and housing costs * Must be willing to take part in activities that will help you find a job |
Application | Apply online at www.huroncounty.ca/ontarioworks, by phone 519-482-8505 or 1-888-371-5718, or in person at the Jacob Memorial Building (77722D London Road, Clinton) * to complete the process, you will be asked to attend a meeting with an Ontario Works Case Manager at our office. They will determine your eligibility and explain how the Ontario Works Program can help you. Information Required: birth certificate(s) * social insurance number(s) * health card number(s) * employment history * Immigration number and date of landing (if applicable) * income tax Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada (NOA) * Child Tax Assessment from Revenue Canada * list of assets * banking information *information on all income from all sources Including other household members * cost of accommodations (including rent, mortgage, heat and hydro) * address information for the last 12 months |
