| Description (Service) | Provides assistance to people in need to build health and community in Meaford. Programs and services include: * Emergency Food Bank (see separate 211 listing for details) * Christmas hampers (see separate 211 listing for details) * Community Cafe - on Mon mornings enjoy coffee, treats, music, crafts and activities, everyone welcome * Community Gardens - private and communal plots available to provide fresh local produce to the community * Proceeds from various gardens are provided to the food bank, to community members in need or sold at the seasonal Meaford Community Gardens Market on a pay-what-you-can basis * Meaford Second Harvests - aims to glean good food that would otherwise not be used and connect to those who can best benefit * Harvests are split three ways between the grower/land-owner, volunteer pickers and the community * Contact for more info, if you want to assist, and/or if you have or know where there is food to be gleaned Also offers: * Back-to-school backpacks * Good Food Box sponsorship * Youth & Adult Recreation Funding support * Referrals to outside agencies when required |
