Description (Service) Assists Ogemawahj Tribal Council First Nation members who are long-term unemployed * eligible for Employment Insurance (EI) * or on social assistance.  
 
Services include: 
* In-school training  
* On-the-job training  
* Work experience 
* Provides skills enhancement opportunities for First Nation members, as well as summer employment experience for students (students must have just completed a full academic program and also be entering a full academic program) 
 
Eligible training includes:  
* Adult Basic Education/Upgrading  
* Industry Training  
* Apprenticeships  
 
Training providers must provide recognized and accredited training delivered by private, post-secondary, and industry institutions. Non-profits, businesses or unions may be eligible in some cases. 
 
Training is to provide employable and/or transferable skills that give the client a high probability of achieving employment following the program. Training should lead to the client’s self-sufficiency and career aspirations.  
 
To be eligible for training allowances, there must be the ability to monitor attendance and progress by OTTER staff.

Areas Served Alderville First Nation ; Beausoleil First Nation ; Chippewas of Rama First Nation Unceded ; Georgina Island ; Moose Deer Point First Nation ; Ramara ; Scugog
Eligibility Applicants must be a member of an OTC First Nation * reside in Ontario * and be unemployed * on social assistance * or EI. Consideration will be given to clients who are underemployed and/or whose employment is at risk due to changes in the labour market * insufficient employment skills * or certification.
Application OTTER intake and assessment must be completed. Applicants must also complete a Participant Information Form and Consent Form, all of which are available at the office. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as processing times can take up to one month.
