Description
Description (Service) Provide settlement services and direct assistance to new Canadians. Assistance includes orientation to the community, individual/group counselling, and help accessing local services such as employment resources, housing resources, credit counselling and elementary/high school/adult English classes. Employment services are available for eligible clients including help with resumes, cover letters, job search, interviews and employee rights, interpretation/translation as available. 
 
EAS Program: assists foreign-trained professionals in getting their credentials assessed. 
 
Friendship Program: Matches newcomers with Canadian volunteer hosts who offer orientation to their local area and moral support in their transition to Canada. 
 
LINC Language Assessment Centre: Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada(LINC)--assessment of English language skills for settlement-based language training program or referral to community-based organization LINC. (Home Study) and LINC classes are offered to those interested in attending classes daily at Fleming College. 
 
Newcomer Settlement Program: Information and referral; information on government forms; supportive counselling; problem solving; settlement and orientation for immigrants and refugees. 
 
Guest speakers available to speak on immigration issues, multi-culturalism and cultural sensitivity.

Hours Office hours: Tue-Fri 9 am-4 pm 
ESL Classes: Provided through the Help Centre Cobourg Mon-Thu 9:45 am-12 noon at Trinity United Church 
LINC classes: Provided through Fleming College Mon-Fri 9 am-12 noon at Fleming College Cobourg Campus 
Women's Group meet the last Tue of the month.

Eligibility Friendship Program: Newcomers 19 years or over; immigration papers or permanent resident card required. 
 
Assessment Centre: Newcomers to Canada 18 years and over who are permanent residents or Convention refugees. 
 
Newcomer Settlement Program: Open to newcomers.
