| Description | The Health Unit Oral Health Department provides access to financial assistance for dental treatment for children up to and including 17 years of age of low-income families through the Children In Need Of Treatment program (CINOT), plus access to the Ontario Works Dental program for dependant children. Free preventive dental clinics, offering topical fluoride, pit and fissure sealants and professionals cleanings for children of families without dental insurance or the ability to pay for them privately, are held in all health unit offices. Oral health promotion resources and dental assessments (visual screenings) are offered to preschool, elementary, and high school students. Data collected from the screenings provides oral health statistical information about the general school population. |
